Reducing post-harvest losses with our state-of-the-art grain silos.

Post-harvest losses plague agriculture across West Africa, with farmers losing up to 30% of their harvest to poor storage. Our new storage facility in Mange Bureah is changing that narrative.

The facility, which became operational in July, features eight modern grain silos with a combined capacity of 5,000 metric tons. These aren't ordinary silos – they're equipped with temperature and moisture monitoring systems, pest control mechanisms, and hermetic sealing that preserves grain quality for extended periods.

The technology addresses the biggest challenges farmers face. Traditional storage methods expose grain to moisture, leading to mold and aflatoxin contamination. Pests like weevils can destroy entire harvests. Our silos eliminate these risks through controlled environment storage.

Farmers using our facility report dramatic reductions in post-harvest losses – from 25-30% down to less than 3%. This means more grain to sell, stable prices throughout the year, and significantly improved incomes.

But storage is just one part of our value chain approach. The Mange Bureah facility includes a processing center where stored grain can be milled into flour, quality testing laboratories, and a market information center that helps farmers make informed decisions about when to sell.

The facility serves over 800 farmers across five communities. During peak harvest season, we receive and process up to 100 tons of grain daily. Farmers bring their harvest, receive quality grading, and can either store for later sale or sell immediately at fair market prices.

We're planning similar facilities in Kafana and Gberia Fotombu, extending this infrastructure across our operational zones. Modern storage isn't a luxury – it's essential infrastructure for agricultural transformation.
